Honestly I am much more comfortable in a one piece bathing suit but the last few summers I’ve enjoyed all the stylish options when it comes to shopping for a two piece suit. There are so many stylish one pieces and now with the high-rise bottom trend and a vintage fair, I feel like women over 40 have a lot more to choose from along with being comfortable.

This two-piece from Tory Burch was a great summer find. The straps detach so if you decide to go for a swim or paddle boarding you’ll be ready for action. This shell necklace is from Mala By Love

The bottoms I’m wearing here are from Cami & Jax and again I paired it with the Boy’s & Arrow Leopard top. Cami & Jax is a local brand created by two sisters from Hawaii and I adore them! The bottoms have that vintage feel and I’m a fan of that style, especially if you no longer choose to wear a bikini. If you have a chance stop by the boutique in Santa Monica you’ll have a one on one experience to find the suit that’s right for you.

I look for swim suits that move around as much as I do (that’s a lot) and stay in place. The brands I’ve shown here are practical, classic and fashionable. The top I’m wearing is from Ereś, their suits are timeless and the wrap is from Hermes. Investing in a few high-end items will take you through years of sunshine and rosé.

Staying true to your style doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Mixing high and low fashion is something you can have fun with. As your age goes up, so does your confidence level, so pour the rosé, break some rules, and have a good time! I'm excited to share a few of my favorite fashion items that get the job done for under $125. But first, a few things I always keep in mind that you might also find helpful.

I’m a long time fan of bohemian style. It’s versatile and super easy to wear. Add a little flow to your summer weekend look with a printed maxi dress and lace-up sandals. I found these at Amanu Studio in West Hollywood where you become part of the creative process.

BOHO-CHIC - MEET CATHY WILLIAMSON

If someone told me that when you enter your 50’s you’re going to have a slew of new opportunities and, oh… you’ll make incredible friendships that will feel so rich and will most likely last a lifetime I would’ve never believed them. If someone would’ve predicted I’d be doing what I’m doing today I’m not sure I would have believed that either. What I’ve learned, well… one of the many things I’ve learned up to this point in my life is no matter how old you are your world is what you make it and your riches are your relationships. Remember the song “I’m a little bit country and I’m a little bit rock & roll? Well I’m a little bit “boho” and the fabulous red-head beside me is a lot chic!

A few years ago the clothing company Chico’s reached out to 10 bloggers in the U.S. from ages 45+ and brought us all to NYC for a round table discussion. We had such a wonderful time and till this day we’re all still connected. The minute I met Cathy Williamson from The Middle Page and I heard the southern accent there was an instant connection.

Last year we also spoke on a panel together in Redondo Beach / Fierce Con, founded by Catherine Grace O it was the first time I heard her story of beating one of the toughest breast cancers. Cathy’s story is one of bravery and honesty a true fearless-female touchstone for all of us. That same weekend her husband Buster flew to LA to celebrate their anniversary and we dined with the husbands.

Last month her adorable daughter Alex moderated an evening at Violet Grey ( of course she was terrific) and Cathy flew back to LA for that and I was thrilled to spend time with them both. La Familia!

Cathy and I both agreed that the second part of our lives, this second act or whatever you want to call it has literally breathed new life into us both. We’ve had a blast bouncing ideas off one another and it’s just beginning. We both talk about what a journey this blogging world has been and a real blessing at this stage of the game. We’re both so grateful for the doors that continue to open for women in our demographic and the fact that we’re also connecting with a younger demographic and we’re learning new in technology everyday. We all have something to share with one another and I’m thrilled to share my dear friend Cathy Williamson with you.
